'Dog Sitter!' is a single-player, point and click, multiple choice game for web browsers. You play as a dog sitter who was hired for the week to make sure the owners beloved pet 'Chorngus' gets their proper nutrition while they are away on vacation.
A goofy premise needs a visual style to match. Inspiration for the UI/UX was taken directly from early 2000's internet. Limited color palettes mixed with saturated colors, and eye-catching patterns. I wasn't interested in nauseating my Players though, so I highly saturated colors sparingly. Always making sure to add a large space of just black and neutral tone colors so the viewer has a respite from the visual noise of Hot Pinks and Yellows. For the art direction I tried to emulate the ridiculous tone of early flash games. Goofy characters, over-exaggerated expressions, clumsy execution of 2D/3D integration and the obvious indication that this was all made to have a good laugh. You aren't supposed to take any part of this game seriously. It's entertainment value entirely hinges on the incredulity of the premise- you are babysitting an anxious mess of a dog, that has a specific diet for sugary candy; but only on Thursday.
This project served as a benchmark to see how far I've come in learning how to code in C#. Finishing this game on my own got me excited for all kinds of solo projects I could take on in the future to test my ever growing programming abilities. I look forward to what I will come up with next.
